Cartilages  at the anterior ends of ribs which articulate with sternum directly in true ribs (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th 5th, 6th, 7th), with the cartilages immediately above in false ribs (8th, 9th, 10th) and and caps the anterior ends of ribs in floating ribs (11th, 12th).
