Anterior superior iliac spine

 

There are four spines in the ilium and they are 2 superior and 2 inferior spines and also 2 anterior and 2 posterior spines. They are arranged as follows

bullet Anterior superior iliac spine
bullet Anterior inferior iliac spine
bullet Posterior superior iliac spine
bullet Posterior inferior iliac spine

The anterior superior iliac spine provides attachment for the inguinal ligament.
