LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE OF THE VAGINA

 

The vessels are connected to those of the rectum, vulva and cervix

Superior vessels accompany the uterine vessels to the external iliac nodes

Intermediaet vessel pass to the internal iliac nodes by accompanying the vaginal artery

Inferior vessels below the hymen (draining the vulva and skin of perineum) pass to the superficial inguinal nodes except that of the clitoris which pass to the deep inguinal nodes.

These vessels (external and internal inguinal nodes) belong to the lateral aortic nodes and they pass to the lumbar lymph trunk, which ends in the abdominal confluence of lymph trunks or the cisterna chyli that enter the thoracic duct.
