AORTIC LYMPH NODES
GROUP: Lumbar nodes
These nodes lie on the sides of the abdominal aorta, anterior to the
medial margins of the psoas major, diaphragmatic crura and the sympathetic
trunk. They are bilateral, being formed on both right and left.
DRAINAGE: These nodes drain the
abdominal wall through the lumbar and iliac vessels. They also drain the
kidneys, suprarenal glands, abdominal ureter, gonads, posterior abdominal wall,
fallopian tube and the upper parts of the uterus. They then pass from the
lateral nodes to the lumbar trunks, which end in the confluence of lymph trunks
or the cisterna chyli, before entering the thoracic duct.
