ANTERIOR LONGITUDINAL LIGAMENT

 

 

PROXIMAL ATTACHMENT: Extends along anterior surface of the vertebral bodies from basilar part of occipital bone, anterior tubercle of axis and the anterior part of body of axis.

DISTAL ATTACHMENT: Front of sacrum at its superior aspect.

FUNCTION: Keeps the vertebrae together.

 

JOINT: Intervertebral joints.
