ANOCOCCYGEAL LIGAMENT

 

 

Consist of tendinous plate of puboccocygeus, posterior part of external anal sphincter and iliococcygeal raphe

PROXIMAL ATTACHMENT: Anorectum

 

DISTAL ATTACHMENT: Coccyx

 

FUNCTION: Stabilises the anus during action of anal sphincters which are attached to coccyx and the sacrococcygeal joint

 

JOINT: Sacrococcygeal joint
