COLLATERAL LIGAMENTS OF METACARPOPHALANGEAL JOINTS

 

 

PROXIMAL ATTACHMENT: There are two on each side- radial and ulnar sides. They run from the heads of metacarpal bones I V.

DISTAL ATTACHMENT: Base of corresponding phalanges.

FUNCTION: Prevent lateral or medial displacements of metacarpal bones and phalanges.

JOINT: Metacarpophalangeal joints.
