INFERIOR TIBIOFIBULAR JOINT

DESCRIPTION: The articular surfaces of this joint are medial aspect of lower end of fibula and fibula notch at the lateral aspect of lower end of tibia. It is a syndemsosis.

MOVEMENTS: It is  plane joint- it allows very little movement, and in any case, no more than a slight lateral rotation during dorsiflexion of the ankle joint.
