PROXIMAL RADIO-ULNAR JOINT

DESCRIPTION: This joint articulation is between the head of radius and the radial notch of the proximal expanded end of ulna.

LIGAMENTS: Annular ligament is its main ligament which covers the head of the radius and the proximal part of the ulna. 

NERVE SUPPLY:

Mainly the musculocutaneous and radial nerves. But others are

BLOOD SUPPLY: Elbow anastomoses

MOVEMENTS:

         Pronation by pronator quadratus and aided by pronator teres.

         Supination by supinator if the process is slow and unresisted. In aggressive supination when the elbow is flexed, biceps brachii is chief supinator.
