INFERIOR VESICAL ARTERY

 

 

ORIGIN: Anterior division of the internal iliac artery.

 

COURSE/DISTRIBUTION: Arises from the anterior division of internal iliac artery and is found only in the male. Its corresponding female artery is the vaginal artery. It runs below the superior vesical artery to reach the back of urinary bladder where it supplies the fundus of bladder, ureter, prostate and seminal vesicle.

 

BRANCHES:

  • Cystic branch to bladder
  • Branches to seminal vesicle
  • Prostatic branches
  • Ureteric branches
  • Artery of vas (rarely).
