POSTERIOR CIRCUMFLEX HUMERAL ARTERY

 

 

ORIGIN:  Third part of   axillary artery

 

COURSE/DISTRIBUTION: Begins at the 3rd part of axillary artery under cover of the deltoid and accompanied by the axillary nerve through the quadrangular space, (a space between the long heads of the triceps brachii and the surgical neck of humerus. It anastomoses with the anterior cirumflex artery under cover of the deltoid.

 

BRANCHES: Muscular, cutaneous and one deltoid branch  by which it communicates with the brachial vasculature  through the profunda brachii.
