The calcaneus lies below the talus in the distal row of tarsal bones. It is the largest tarsal bone. It has the following features

         Calcaneal tuberosity

         Sustentaculum tali at its medial aspect

         Sulcus calcanei

         Three articular facets for talus, and one for the cuboid.
