The temporal bones are paired and found at the sides of the cranium, below the parietal bones. The temporal bone has the following distinct parts

  • Squamous temporal

  • Petromastoid -divided into

    •       Petrous temporal

    •       Mastoid

  • Mandibular fossa

  • External acoustic meatus

  • Styloid process
