The palatine bones are paired. They form part of the nasal wall, orbit and the roof of the buccal cavity. The palatine bones have three processes and two plates

Processes

  • Pyramidal process
  • Orbital process
  • Sphenoid process

Plates

  • Horizontal plate by which it articulates with the maxilla
  • Perpendicular plate which is placed at right angle with the horizontal plate that forms part of the roof of the buccal cavity (hard palate).
